JOB SUMMARY
The purpose of this classification is to perform field work to connect or disconnect water services, to investigate and resolve customer complaints regarding water flow or high-water bills, and to resolve any other service issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Connects/disconnects water service upon request by the Customer Accounts department.
Investigates high bill complaints by confirming that the meter flow is within an appropriate range.
Repairs leaking meters and broken meters boxes; raises or lowers boxes upon customer request.
Assists Account Services Lead with Loss Prevention investigations.
Assists with residential backflow preventer maintenance.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures.
Responds to customer complaints and questions; investigates water leak issues; advises proper course of action; and makes special readings as necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK
High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by 6 months of experience in meter reading, meter repair or a related field.; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all CCWA or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting up to 100 pounds at a time. Typical lifting requirements are up to 15 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Essential functions are regularly performed with possible exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Work is performed in a dynamic environment that requires sensitivity to change and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.
