Description

As a member of the interprofessional team, the Spiritual Care Associate provides spiritual care to patients and families using assessment, therapeutic and care planning interventions attuned to the care and treatment of the whole person, including healing rituals and practices that reflect the significance and meaning experienced in times of illness. This position will use a multi-faith perspective in the delivery of spiritual care services to clients, staff, and families.

The Spiritual Care Associate supports the health and wellbeing of staff and teams through debriefing and participation in team meetings and education. This position is involved in student education, professional development activities, program quality initiatives, continuous learning, and the establishment of community connections to best serve patient needs. The Spiritual Care Associate works across Lake of the Woods District Hospital and all satellite locations.

Qualifications

  • Theological degree or recognized equivalent (e.g. Psychotherapy and Spirituality, Clinical or Counseling Psychology) is preferred
  • Minimum of two units of Clinical Pastoral Care education with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC) or recognized equivalent is preferred
  • Specialist certification with Canadian CASC or in process to complete is preferred
  • Experience in health care ministry chaplaincy/ spiritual and religious care
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and assertively within an interprofessional health care team and with community partners, well-developed communication, interpersonal skills as well as negotiation, consultation, and client advocacy skills
  • Demonstrated ability to support patients, families, and staff through crisis situations
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven competency with a minimum of two years of spiritual care experience in a medical facility or chaplaincy role, to build effective working relationships and teams
  • Experience working within an interdisciplinary team structure
  • Demonstrated ability to provide spiritual and religious care in a multi faith context
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for the Spiritual Care portfolio (data analysis and reporting)
  • Ability to travel to various locations and provide own transportation
